5 Days Itinerary -Please comment!!

Here goes our itinerary for 5 nights/6 days in NY in August. We arrive (with God%26#39;s will) at he 5th and leave at 10th.

DAY 1: Saturday

Arrival at the hotel Edison, about 16:00.

Unpack, and get out. Walk through Broadway Av. to Times Square, see NY Public Library, Grand Central Station, Chrysler Building and then walk to Empire State Building, go up at night to see the view. Eat somewhere at Times Square.

DAY 2: Sunday

Walk from Hotel to Rockefeller Plaza, up to TOTR, see Radio City and maybe the Mass in St. Patrick鈥檚 Cathedral.

Take subway to Museum of Natural History, visit Museum and then visit Rose Center for Earth and Space, watch Space Show, and maybe Imax cinema (3D Film). (Will we find tickets?) Then walk to Central Park and spent the day there.

At night maybe go out to a Jazz club. Any suggestions?

DAY 3: Monday

Subway from Hotel to Staten Island Ferry.

Take the Ferry and see SOL and Ellis island but not visit them.

Back to the subway and visit to Wall Street, then walk to Ground Zero, visit St. Paul鈥檚 Chapel, walk to City Hall, cross Brooklyn Bridge, eat at Grimaldi鈥檚. Anything else good there to eat in case we don鈥檛 find at Grimaldi鈥檚?

DAY 4: Tuesday

Subway from Hotel to Flatiron Building and Theodore Roosevelt House, then walk to Chelsea, Greenwich Village, Soho, Tribeca, China Town Little Italy鈥? If our feet can handle this! Eat??

DAY 5: Wednesday

SHOPPING!! (at last)! Walk through 5th Avenue, visit Macy鈥檚!! and anything else we see interesting (and we will probably see a lot).

In the evening maybe visit Astoria to meet some Greek immigrants!!

DAY 6: Thursday

We are leaving in the afternoon so in the morning we will do some catching up with things that we didn鈥檛 have enough time to see or go back to some places we liked! Probably visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art and a last walk through Central Park!

Please check it out and make your suggestions! It is a little long. Is it possible? Is it too much?

Any comments are welcome!

Thanks in advance!!

It all sounds fine except for Day 4. You can%26#39;t possibly cover basically all of downtown in a day on foot. I suggest you either pick very specific things in each neighborhood and map out how to get from one to the other OR, maybe you should consider the downtown loop of the Grayline bus tour?

For jazz clubs, look on bigapplejazz.com for a list of places in all neighborhoods. Dizzy%26#39;s Coca Cola in the Time Warner building has good jazz and nice views but it%26#39;s pricey with a cover charge.

On day 3, if you don%26#39;t find Grimaldi%26#39;s, perhaps head to Brooklyn Heights and the Promenade for great views and a nice neighborhood with restaurants. But here%26#39;s a post on how to walk the bridge.

Macy%26#39;s is not on Fifth ave. nor is it really near the Fifth Ave. stores. If you go there, don%26#39;t forget to register for an 11% discount card. Same at Bloomingdales.

Have fun!

are these Greek immigrants you know?!?

or you just want to visit Greek immigrants?

I mean Astoria is pretty diverse now, you%26#39;d visit immigrants of many different backgrounds, not just Greek.

Nywhiz I was afraid DAY 4 was very ambitious!! It doesn%26#39;t matter though, we will start walking and see when our feet start protesting!! Good idea though about the bus tour.

And we will try what you advise in Brooklyn!

Macy%26#39;s is not near 5th Avenue?? I thought I saw it on the map!! I will have to look again.. sorry!

Shrewdfool, we don%26#39;t know any Greek in New York, we actually don%26#39;t know anybody else (except you wonderful people). I know Astoria has a lot of immigrants from various places, we just thought we would go around the place and maybe eat at a Greek restaurant or Cafe, if we found one, just for the fun of meeting someone from home, so far away!

Thanks very much for your answers!
