Brooklyn Bridge

How long does it take to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge?

Brooklyn Bridge

It took us an hour, with a few photo stops. Bearing in mind I was wearing a big wedding dress I don%26#39;t think we did too bad!

Brooklyn Bridge

Although with fine weather, ange, that should have made for some great wedding pictures. How did they turn out?

Jagwood, from end to end the Brooklyn bridge walkway is slightly over a mile. How long does it take you to walk a mile when you are ambling along and stopping to look at things on the way?

Thanks GWB! If we%26#39;re having Pizza at Grimaldi%26#39;s after Ellis Island would you use another form of transportation to get to Brooklyn and then walk back across the bridge, or walk from Battery Park and then walk back across after dinner?

sorry GWB, the pics were ok - it was july 1st last year so it was really humid but a bit dull! Fantastic experience though, and we couldn%26#39;t have picked a better day to do it.

they%26#39;re at www.angenandy.co.uk (day 4)

I%26#39;m going to butt in again here jagwood - I%26#39;d get the water taxi to Brooklyn, have pizza at Grimaldis (which is fab by the way!) then walk back over the bridge.

I walked across the bridge, many times, for the sole purpose of getting to Manhattan from Brooklyn. It would take me around 20 minutes. Figure at least one hour if you stop to admire the view and to take some photos.

Jagwood, you can do any of the following:

1) Best bet: take the water taxi from South Street Seaport to Fulton Ferry landing. Grimaldi%26#39;s is right there. You can walk to South Street Seaport (at Fulton Street) from the Battery.,

2) Second choice -Take the 4 uptown from Bowling Green to Fulton Street. Change for the C or the A one stop to High Street. Go to Grimaldi%26#39;s.

3)A very different idea that had not occurred to you at all, and that would turn into a full day excursion: Take the R from Whitehall Street to Canal Street. Walk east on Canal to the Manhattan Bridge. Walk across the Manhattan Bridge to Brooklyn. Explore Brooklyn Heights and Downtown Brooklyn -- go to the Promenade; have dinner on Montague Street or great Italian food at Queen on Court Street. In the evening walk back to Manhattan across the Brooklyn Bridge.

Ange, you look gorgeous in your wedding dress.

So much information to read on your site! I%26#39;m bookmarking it for later.

Why thank you holdingupnumber1!!

I mainly wrote so much because of the fantasticly, informative trip reports I%26#39;d read on this forum before we left. I hope it can be of some use to you!
