Public Transportation at LAGUARDIA

I am staying at the Hampton Inn Seaport-Financial District on Pearl Street (adj. to the Brooklyn Bridge) and I must take public transportation from the airport to the hotel...I am not paying $40 for a cab and forget SuperShuttle *rolls eyes*.

I will not have much luggage, so no worries there...

I am travelling tomarrow and I am freaking out a little because I have NO idea what subway or bus route to take, and the MTA does not have a trip planner on their website.

PLEASE help me out and let me know which routes I should be taking.

Here is the hotel in case you need to see exactly where I am going...

Public Transportation at LAGUARDIA

Hop on the M60 bus at LGA and ride that into Manhattan, getting off at 125th St. %26amp; Lexingon Ave where you can then take a #4 or 5 express train to Fulton Street. Walk down Fulton Street to Pearl Street, turn left.

Public Transportation at LAGUARDIA

Be prepared - this isn%26#39;t the most fun commute, but it does save money. I%26#39;ve taken this trip many times.

When you exit the baggage claim at LaGuardia, follow the ';public transportation'; signs, you%26#39;re looking to get the M60 bus to Manhattan. Also, be aware that bus fare is $2. You will want to have at least $2 IN CHANGE (they won%26#39;t take bills) with you tomorrow when you travel. Take the M60 to 125th and Lexington (if you%26#39;re unsure, you can always ask the driver to announce this stop, if I%26#39;m remembering correctly it%26#39;s a 30-45 min. bus ride depending on traffic). At this corner, you will be able to transfer to the 4,5,6 trains (another $2). You%26#39;ll want to take the 4 or the 5 downtown to Fulton St.

(the following were taken from HopStop):

Exit the station near intersection of William St and Fulton St. Start out going East on Fulton St towards Gold St. Turn left onto Pearl St.

I hope this helps. If you%26#39;re looking for a public transportation ';trip planner,'; www.hopstop.com is usually pretty accurate.

Enjoy NYC!

Don%26#39;t bother with having change-get a MetroCard at one of the newstands at LaGuardia-you%26#39;ll need one to get around New York anyway. If the Q33 comes along before the M60,you can take it to Roosevelt subway stop, take the #7 to Grand Central and then change to the #4,5,6. It isn%26#39;t that difficult if you don%26#39;t have a lot of luggage,I do it a lot.

While the directions above to take the M60 and the #4 or #5 (Do NOT take the pokey local #6, which does not go to Fulton Street anyway!) from 125th Street to Fulton Street are okay enough, forget tht business at the end about exiting near William Street. Yes, that station complex has an exit at William Street, but it is NOT in the 4/5 station -- it is found (if you are lucky) after a long trip up and down stairs and through two other stations at the connected Fulton Street station of the #2 and #3. Instead, when you get off the 4 or 5, go upstairs directly. You will be on Broadway at either Fulton Street (near rear of train) or John Street (near middle of train). You should be on the same side of Broadway as St. Paul%26#39;s chaple. Cross Broadway so you are on the side ACROSS from St. Paul%26#39;s, and continue down Fulton from there to Pearl Street. Note that just above Fulton, Peal and Water Streets do a quirky interchange where the traffic (and the wideness) switch from Water to Pearl Streets.

Another idea, that might be more amusing, and that will not take much longer, is to take the Q33 bus to Roosevelt Avenue/74th Street for teh #7 elevated train (there are more lines downstairs, you want the 7) Enjoy the view into Manhattan, and then get off at Times Square, the last stop. Change to the #2 or #3 downtown and get off at Fulton Street -- this time you will be at the corner of William, and closer to your goal. Just ask anyone ';Which way is the South Street Seaport?'; and walk the way that they point unitl you get to Pearl (or Water) Street.

I would opt for the Q33 Bus to Roosevelt and then take the subway into the city from there. (Catch an E to 51st and Lex and transfer to a downtown 6 upstairs.

It%26#39;s a considerably faster to take a subway directly into the city than it is to take a bus all the way up to Harlem and then back down.
