After all the reading I have done here, it seems that quite a few of you are very good at scheduling. If anyone has the time and enjoys this type of thing...I am going to list the things that my family wants to do on our first trip to New York. I am still unable to figure out the best way to play our days...and time is short with so much to see. We are arriving on a Sunday afternoon and leaving on Thursday morning. We are staying in Time Square. Also, if you could throw in a few good meal recommendations that would coordinate well with the itenerary. Thank you so much.
Walk the Brooklyn Bridge (subway ride into Brooklyn)
play at Central Park...maybe have a picnic (children are 8 %26amp; 10)
Serendipity 3
American Girl Cafe
FAO Swartz
NBA store
China Town
Little Italy
Ground Zero
Statue of Liberty
(waiting to get half price broadway matinee tickets)
Staten Island Ferry
Chelsea Market
Today Show
Battery Park
(we want to go to John%26#39;s Pizzeria and Grey%26#39;s Papaya)
expert coordinators needed
Flattery will get you everywhere....
First of all, you need a map. Ok, got one? Good. Now, you need to group thigns by location. Follow along!
Sunday, I%26#39;d just roam around the neighborhood. You can start of by going to the Top of the Rock observatory for sunset. Then go to Times Square. Make sure you%26#39;re out there at night when it is all lit up.
Rest of trip, I%26#39;d go south to north:
Monday:
Battery Park
SOL or Staten Island Ferry. Pick one. You don%26#39;t need to do both unless you really, really like boats.
Stop by Trinity Church to see graves of Alexander ';$10 bill'; Hamilton and robert ';Steamboat'; Fulton. Across the street from Trinity is Wall Street and the Stock Exchange.
World Trade Center
St. Paul%26#39;s Chapel
If you go to SOL, then end the day in Chinatown. If you only do the ferry (much shorter), you%26#39;ll might have time and energy to walk the Brooklyn Bridge. Depends on stamina and crankiness of you and the kids.
Tuesday:
You can go back downtown and finish up.
I%26#39;d stop in the Lower East Sdie and go to Economy Candy. You%26#39;ll all love it!!
www.economycandy.com
Then go to Little Italy and Chinatown for lunch, and head to brooklyn for the walk on the bridge.
After you walk the Brooklyn Bridge, I would add a visit to the South Street Seaport. Yes, it%26#39;s basically a shopping mall, but it is very historical. It%26#39;s the real old NYC, ';Gangs of New York'; and all that. Herman Melville set ';Moby D!ck'; here and wrote it while working nearby as a customs clerk.
Wednesday:
Today Show in the AM
You can combine shopping on Fifth Ave (NBA store, FAO Schwartz) with time in Central Park (maybe add the zoo? It%26#39;s not very big.), and then go to Serendiptiy. Later, head to Chelsea Market.
Not sure about American Girl Place, but I%26#39;m sure you can go to it either Tues orr Wednesday.
