First time NYC visit

My husband and I are coming to NY next weekend (7/13-16), and we cannot wait! We have many questions, and many have already been answered in this forum. However, the main show we wanted to see, Jersey Boys, is soldout. I checked the website for Broadway tickets and they had some seats at over 300.00 each! Anyone know a more reasonable way of obtaining two seats for that weekend? Thanks!

Yes, this is one tough ticket. Try www.stubhub.com. www.craigslist.org or ebay, you never know.

Good luck!!!

Skelco,

Here%26#39;s a tip someone once told me that works.

If you have access to the internet while you are here go to Ticketmaster just after noon the day before you want to see the show. Any house seats that haven%26#39;t been taken are released for sale then. i%26#39;ve done this for hard to get tickets and it has worked. And you don%26#39;t pay any more then the regular ticket price.

Good luck

That is good to know, thanks.

I hate to tell people to spend their time in lines while on a vacation to NYC, but your best chance may be TKTS. There is one in the middle of Times Square and one at south Street Seaport. They sell day-of tickets to shows.

If you are adventuresome, I would recommend showing up at the box office about 1 hour before show time. Ask the box office if they have any tickets. If not, ask them where the line is for released tickets and get in it. 99% of the time, they have a few tickets they release. While you are in that line, have your husband stand outside the theatre and watch for people who may be selling tickets. With these two bases covered, you have good odds of getting tickets.

My husband and I have been doing this for years and years and we almost always get tickets. Some people are skeptical of buying from people outside of the theater but we have yet to be burned on this (e.g. phantom tickets when it had just opened on the 4th row center about 5 minutes before show time, Jersey Boys, 5th row about 10 minutes before show time, etc, etc.). It does help though if you print out the theater seating map so you know exactly where the tickets are located that you are buying.

I was there in March to celebrate my sister%26#39;s 40th birthday. We took our mom along who had never been to NYC. We literally showed up at the theater 20 minutes before show time for Jersey Boys. I nabbed 2 tickets from a scalper on the street for $20 bucks over face value. They were on the 6th row toward the side. My mom was flipping out because there were three of us and we now only had 2 tickets. I said, ';mother, don%26#39;t worry about it, you can always find one ticket.'; I figured the worse that could happen was that they went to the show and I had to kill a few hours by myself. But sure enough, the box office had 1 single ticket (4 rows from the front). I paid face value.

The show is phenomenal!! We could not quit talking about it for hours after we left.

If you have to go with this last minute approach, have a back up plan (e.g. jazz in the village, etc), so you%26#39;re not dissappointed with the evening if it doesn%26#39;t work out.

Also, don%26#39;t forget E-Bay. Most of the time, tickets are listed by scalpers at rediculous prices, but sometimes tickets are listed by average people who have had changes in their travel plans and can%26#39;t use their tickets. These tickets tend to go for a more reasonable price.

Good Luck!
