Can anyone help? We are arriving in NYC from the UK on 18th July. We note that there is a concert and fireworks in Central Park on that evening. As we are not arriving until late afternoon we thought we would rather eat in a restaurant than get a picnic together. Are there any good (but not too expensive!) restaurants in that part of the Park? Is The Boathouse nearby - and is it as nice as it sounds? Some advice would be very welcome!

The Boathouse is very nice! You might also like Tavern on the Green or for a less expensive than either of those places meal perhaps the cafe or the restaurant inside the Metropolitan Museum of Art. All of those places are within the park. I don%26#39;t know where the fireworks are taking place but if it is within the park as you state ,then you will be relatively close. Nothing is ';inexpensive'; within the park, however. Luckily the exchange rate works in your favor ;-)
